After the London 2012 Olympics, many wondered what would become of the structures in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in East London. Four years after the games, one of them has had a new attraction added.
Upon her return, Kathleen and I went to try out the ArcelorMittal Orbit‘s “The Slide“.
It is apparently the the world’s highest and longest tunnel slide, at 178m.
The journey takes about 40 seconds, reaching a maximum speed of 15 mph!
Before entering the tunnel, you have to don the attractive helmet and arm sleeves, as modelled by Kathleen and I.
Hearing Kathleen’s giggles and screams as she headed down the tube before me was a fantastic sound!
I yelped every so often as the pipe changed direction or had a sudden drop.
It was a quick vertical journey neither of us will forget in a hurry!
